Abu Dhabi: Abu Dhabi Police have issued a warning to motorists about the dangers of driving with worn-out tires, sharing a video that highlights the potentially fatal consequences of tire failure.

The video is part of the “Safe Summer” and “Summer Without Accidents” campaigns, produced in collaboration with the Monitoring and Control Center under the “Your Comment” initiative.

It features three separate high-speed accidents, each caused by a tire blowout.

In one incident, a car in the leftmost lane suddenly swerves across the highway and flips after a right-side tire bursts.

Another clip shows a speeding vehicle losing control after a similar blowout, crashing into the far-right lane.

In the third case, a recovery truck slams into a roadside barrier following a tire failure on a busy highway.

The Directorate of Traffic and Patrols has urged drivers to regularly inspect their tires to ensure they are in good condition and free from damage or cracks — especially during the summer, when high temperatures increase the risk of blowouts.

Motorists are also advised to use tires that meet approved safety standards, including correct size, load capacity, temperature rating, and manufacturing year — particularly before long-distance trips.

Abu Dhabi Police stressed that traffic monitoring will be stepped up and violators will face legal consequences as part of ongoing efforts to improve road safety.

Under Article 82 of the Traffic Law, driving with unfit tires carries a Dh500 fine, four black points, and a one-week vehicle impoundment.
