The Ministry of Education is preparing to administer the make-up exams for the third term of the current 2024–2025 academic year. Scheduled to begin on Friday, June 20, and continue through June 25, the exams will be held under structured protocols to ensure discipline and compliance. The assessments will target three specific student categories across grades 3 to 12.

Not for all students

The Ministry clarified that the make-up exams are not intended for all students. They are specifically designated for students who were absent due to officially approved excuses, those who faced documented technical issues during the exams, and students who had prior authorization to take the exams remotely—particularly those residing abroad for health-related reasons or accompanying patients.

Not for grade improvement

The Ministry stressed that the make-up exams are not designed for grade improvement. Students who were found guilty of academic dishonesty are not permitted to participate. Students are required to bring their Ministry-issued electronic devices, with the exception of Grade 9 students. Devices must be in working condition and have the “Safe Browser” software installed to ensure digital security and exam integrity.

Strict guidelines and conditions

School administrations have instructed students and their families to strictly adhere to the scheduled times for each exam, warning that late arrivals will not be allowed entry. Students must print the “Exam Structure” available in the student guide and study only the third-term content, as it serves as the sole reference for the questions.

Students abroad

For students who are currently outside the country and have been pre-approved to take exams remotely, the Ministry emphasized the importance of preparing a suitable technical setup. Students must ensure their devices and internet connection meet requirements and must coordinate with their school to confirm exam schedules and receive their electronic exam tickets.

No excuse for unjustified absence

The Ministry issued strict instructions to school administrations that unjustified absences or delays in submitting acceptable excuses will result in the student being barred from sitting the make-up exam. These policies are part of rigorous instructions circulated to all schools during the exam period.

Approved exam schedule

According to the approved schedule, Grade 12 students will begin their exams on Friday with Islamic Education (electronic) from 9:00 to 10:00 AM, followed by Chemistry (electronic) from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. On Monday, June 23, they will take exams in English and Physics, followed by Mathematics and Arabic on Tuesday, June 24. The make-up exams will conclude on Wednesday, June 25, with Social Studies and Biology.

Applied track students

For Applied Track students, exams will begin on Friday, June 20, with Islamic Education during the first session only. On Monday, June 23, students will take English, followed by Applied Sciences in two sessions. On Tuesday, June 24, they will sit for Applied Mathematics and Arabic, concluding with Social Studies on Wednesday, June 25.

What are make-up exams?

Make-up exams provide students with an opportunity to retake missed midterm or final exams due to valid reasons, such as hospitalization for a medical emergency on the day of the exam. A detailed medical report stamped by the hospital or doctor is required.

Last week, the Ministry of Education approved the make-up exam schedule for the third term of the 2024–2025 academic year for students in Grades 3 through 12 in public schools and private schools following the national curriculum. Exams for all educational streams will be held from Friday, June 20, to Wednesday, June 25.

The Ministry clarified that make-up exams are designated for students who missed their final exams due to valid excuses or encountered technical issues, with their data verified through the “IDH” platform.

On-campus attendance

According to the exam directives, paper-based exams will be conducted on campus for Grades 3, 4, 5, and 9 (all streams) in public schools. For private schools, both paper-based and electronic exams will be conducted on-site for Grade 5 (general stream) and Grade 9 (general and advanced streams).

Grade 12 students enrolled in private schools will take all their exams in public schools under joint supervision and coordination with school branch coordinators.
