Accreditation committees will visit Al Ittihad University to pave the way for all programmes to be accredited before the end of this semester.

Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Kayed Al Qasimi, university president, said the committees will review the curriculum of the Business Administration and Database programmes over the next 10 days.

He was speaking yesterday during the university's celebrations after two students were chosen by a Japanese university to spend a semester there.

Dr Adan Al Bazi, university vice president and dean of the Computer Engineering Depart-ment, said Fadi Mohammed, a Palestinian, and Hazem Hadad, a Syrian, have been recommended by the university to spend a semester in Fuku University in Japan in a student exchange programme.

Fuku University offers only 60 seats to foreign students of 56 different nationalities in the exchange programme.

Al Ittihad University is delighted that two students have been chosen from hundreds worldwide. The university recommended three students, but Fuku University approved two.

They have been provided with a year's residence visa and all expenses relating to tuition fees, housing and daily needs will be paid for.

The students will register in seven courses in Fuku University. The courses were chosen by Al Ittihad University so that they will be accredited by the university when the students return.

The Malaysian Science University has also chosen four students from Al Ittihad University to study there for a year as part of an exchange programme.

Selection will be take place soon. The first batch of graduates will be given their certificates by the end of this semester.
