Dubai: The 12th edition of the Asia Pacific Conference on Giftedness (Giftedness 2012) will be hosted in Dubai next year, it was announced Tuesday.

The Asia Pacific Conference on Giftedness is an event held every two years in a member state that successfully bids to host the event.

Dubai will be the first Arab country to host the conference, officials said.

The 2012 edition of the conference will be hosted by the Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Distinguished Academic Performance after the submission of a proposed work programme for Giftedness and Creativity during the conclusion of the 11th session in Sydney, Australia.

‘Social integration'

"Gifted children are brilliant minds with specific expectations if not challenging demands. Our role as parents, educators, psychologists and administrators is to polish the path to their personal growth and social integration," Humaid Mohammad Obaid Al Qutami, UAE Minister of Education, said Tuesday, announcing the event.

Giftedness 2012 will be held from July 14-18 at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.
