Dubai: The Dubai International Academy (DIA) held a graduation ceremony to honour the fifth graduating batch of IB diploma holders at the American University of Dubai auditorium.

The class of 2013 included 105 graduates from 29 nationalities who have cumulatively received acceptances from over 300 international Universities.

The ceremony on Thursday was attended by guest of honour Emaar CEO Mohammad Ali Alabbar and AUD President Lance de Masi, who both delivered keynote speeches.

Some of the universities that students were accepted included Ivy league colleges like Yale, Princeton, Columbia, UPenn and Cambridge University, McGill as well as Regional Colleges like AUD, AUS, NYU Abu Dhabi, AUB and AUC.

Throughout the academic year the students took part in extracurricular accomplishments in the areas of Model United Nations, athletics, music, as well as social and community involvement. The batch also included members of the Debate Club members, one of whom was chosen to be part of the UAE National Team in the World’s Schools Debating Championships which finished 13th out of 50 nations.

Members of the batch also initiated and participated in the Eco club. DIA has received the Green Flag status for the second consecutive year due to the commitment of both teachers and students.
