Dubai: A Dh3 million-grant from Pierlite LLC has been awarded to the University of Sharjah (UOS) to fund research and development projects in the field of engineering sciences and medicine.
In an agreement signed by UOS and Pierlite LLC, a global business which is a leading manufacturer of agricultural, hydroponic, cryogenic and construction products, it was stated UOS will help create training courses for Pierlite employees, while Pierlite LLC will provide training opportunities for UOS students in the UAE and abroad. Both parties will also hold joint scientific seminars.
Prof. Samy A. Mahmoud, UOS chancellor, and Lalu Samuel, managing director of Gulf Pierlite LLC, signed the agreement in the presence of senior officials of the university.
Prof. Mahmoud thanked Pierlite LLC for providing the opportunity to establish strong links between the university and the company. The initiative came at a time when UOS had just expanded its research facilities in the medical, engineering and sciences fields. UOS also launched a major drive to fund a number of advanced research projects.
