Summer is here and it's time to find a job... at least that's what many students around the UAE and those who graduated recently will start doing now.

Dubai Women's College last week held the first edition of its Employer's Day programme in a bid to help students and graduates who are seeking full-time, part-time and summer jobs.

The event, organised by the college's Career Services Office, brought together more than 40 companies representing various industries.

Dr Howard Reed, director of the Dubai Women's College, presented the participating companies with certificates of appreciation acknowledging their role in hiring Emarati talents.

Notes went around looking for what companies said they have to offer and what they were looking for in employees.

Why go for a summer job?

Claire Smith Victor, work experience coordinator at the Dubai Women's college, said: "They expose students to various organisations and help them acquire new skills. When students re-join university, they become more mature, knowledgeable and focused on what they want. Summer employment basically teaches you what to do and what not to do."
