13-year-old girl will be presented the award - and a Dh15,000 cash prize - later this month
DUBAI Kanika Nair of Delhi Private School in Sharjah (DPS) has won the Shaikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Outstanding and Distinguished Student for the Year 2009-2010.
The 13-year-old girl will be presented the award - and a Dh15,000 cash prize - later this month, her father, Venu Nair, said. The ninth-grader is one of the youngest students to bag the title, which tracks performance over three school years, Nair said, adding that DPS this week granted her a scholarship worth Dh27,000 for one academic year. "The family believes that the scholarship should be given to a deserving child in a DPS school in India," he said.
