The Dubai Department of Economic Development (DED) is expected to put an end today to the confusion surrounding the GoldQuest case.

DED will announce all facts pertaining to GoldQuest through a press conference, said a DED spokesman.

Yesterday, GoldQuest partners were still flocking to company's offices in Bur Dubai to seek clarifications. But many defended the company and were in favour of its existence in the market.

"GoldQuest had helped the UAE economy. We have spent our money in the UAE," said Mohammed Ahmed. "There is nothing wrong with network marketing. It is globally known, even here."

"I cannot understand all this attack on the company. It is true that the money is taken out of the country but it comes back and is spent here," said Khedr Shabana.

"I bought a car and house because of the money I made through the firm," he added.

Meanwhile, an official of GoldQuest International confirmed that they had been asked to produce an undertaking to the DED.

"We have been asked to submit an undertaking to the DED, which we are submitting today," said R. Lane, the company's Hong Kong-based director for legal affairs.

"We are co-operating with the government in solving the problem, and hope to overcome it after the submission of the papers to the DED."
