Thousands of athletes from around the world are expected to participate in Dubai Marathon
Dubai: Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai has shared road closures and traffic plan for Dubai Marathon 2025, taking place on Sunday, January 12.
Thousands of athletes from around the world will gather to compete in one of the city's most prestigious sporting events. The Dubai Marathon will kick off at 6am and is expected to finish by 1pm. This event attracts thousands of runners, including elite athletes, and features multiple race categories, including the full marathon, 10K, and 4K fun run.
Known for its flat and fast course, the Dubai Marathon has become a key fixture in the international athletics calendar, often setting records and offering substantial prize money for top finishers.
Plan your trip
To ensure smooth travel during the event, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) advises residents and visitors to plan their trips in advance to avoid disruptions. A section of Umm Suqeim Street, between Al Wasl Street and Jumeirah Street, will be closed to traffic starting at midnight on January 12. Traffic will be managed along the race route, with designated vehicle crossing points on both Jumeirah Street and King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud Street. Additionally, a lane will be opened on both streets once the elite runners have passed, in coordination with Dubai Police.
Extended Dubai Metro timings
Meanwhile, to accommodate the increased number of participants and spectators, Dubai Metro timings will be extended on the day of the marathon. The metro will operate from 5am instead of 8am on Sunday, January 12, allowing convenient access to and from marathon-related areas. Runners and spectators are encouraged to use the metro to avoid road congestion and ensure timely arrival at the event.
Drivers and attendees are encouraged to stay informed and adjust their travel plans accordingly to ensure a smooth experience on race day.
