Abu Dhabi: A female doctor and an executive director at one of the top private hospitals in Abu Dhabi have been fired and sued for causing brain damage to a baby during delivery.

The Health Authority Abu Dhabi (HAAD) has cancelled the medical licences of the two on the grounds of medical negligence.

After thorough investigation, the Licensing Committee in HAAD found that the doctor had already been banned from practising medicine in Abu Dhabi for negligence.

A circular said the executive director knew of the doctor's ban and still allowed her to work there.

The hospital has received a two-month warning by the HAAD to put things in order, or face a complete shut-down of the institution.

"HAAD doesn't waste effort to investigate and check on all public and private centres to make sure all medical entities across Abu Dhabi are following the proper required regulations we have set for them," said Zaid Al Suksuk, CEO of HAAD.
