Dubai Islamic Bank (DIB), which opened its call centre last month, has now announced the launch of its new Internet banking service - Al Islami Online.

Though DIB has only English version on offer as of now, the bank will launch its Arabic version later this year.

DIB claims to have one of the most advanced Internet system in the region with the largest number of features.

"The introduction of the new service forms the cornerstone of the bank's integrated technology development plan that is aimed at delivering high-quality service to its customers," said Abdullah Al Hamili, executive director, IT and Human Resources, DIB.

He added that Al Islami Online is a comprehensive and completely secure 24x7 banking service, that can be accessed by DIB customers over the Internet from anywhere in the world.

He also added that the service - targeted at the bank's corporate and consumer customer base - was built on Sun Microsystem's Internet banking platform with all possible security systems incorporated.

"In order to offer users complete security and confidentiality of their banking transactions, the security features on the new portal have been further enhanced using 128 bit encryption code from Verisign, the leading global provider of digital trust services.

Prioritising the need for banks to constantly offer customers new and innovative services, Saad Abdul Razak, executive director, consumer banking services, DIB, said that the rapidly changing dynamics of the new age economy require banks to respond with a high degree of agility.

Al Islami Online offers DIB customers a large number of banking services such as balance enquiries on any of their accounts with the bank, the ability to download and analyse bank statements, transferring funds between accounts and the payment of utility and Etisalat bills online.
