Dubai: The Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Humanitarian and Charity Establishment announced on Wednesday that they will distribute vouchers for clothes in celebration of Eid Al Adha.

"We are offering these vouchers worth Dh1 million to families in the limited income bracket, so that they can celebrate Eid Al Adha," said Ebrahim Bu Melha, Vice Chairman of Board of Trustees, Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Humanitarian and Charity Establishment.

The charity was founded in 1997 under the authority of Dubai Government to aid needy nationals and expatriates.

"The cards will be distributed to families at their discretion and through this initiative, we will be able to reach out to more people in need," said Bu Melha.

The cards are smart cards with Dh500 or Dh300 credit. A total of 2,750 cards will be given to charity.

Bu Melha said although this is the only initiative within the country for Eid celebrations, there is also another programme for Haj pilgrims coming from other countries.

The establishment also has a special programme for senior citizens to mark special occasions, such as distributing Eid clothes and Eid gifts to people living in old people homes, in addition to sponsoring senior citizens to perform Umrah, along with a medical crew and volunteers.

The gift cards are provided by the retail chain Max. "We are honoured to be working with the Mohammad Bin Rashid Establishment to support such a worthy pursuit…for the benefit of the community," said Ramanathan Hariharan, Chief Executive of Max.
