'Crossfire 2000' in Sharjah

The intercollegiate debate competition, 'Crossfire 2002', organised by Sharjah Skyline College highlighted the immense talent of students from various colleges in the UAE.

The intercollegiate debate competition, 'Crossfire 2002', organised by Sharjah Skyline College highlighted the immense talent of students from various colleges in the UAE.

Aruna Ramesh from the Skyline College won the best debater award while the Rolling Trophy award also went to the team of the same college. Saraswathi from Al Ghurair University won the runner up prize in the best debater category.

The topic of the debate was The Policies of the World Trade Organisation Favour the Poor Countries.

Dr Khaup Mohammed, Chairman for the Debate Committee, said that the topic chosen was of great importance since globalisation is the talk of the day and the WTO policies need to be understood.

The participating teams were from Sharjah College, Centre for American Education, Al Ghurair University, Al Abbas Institute, Gulf Medical College and the Skyline College.

Kamal Puri, Dean of Skyline College, said that the college gave much importance to the overall development of students as it regularly organised such competitions to enhance the skills of its students and prepare them to take up challenges in their professional life.
