Abu Dhabi: An Arab had his life imprisonment to be followed by deportation upheld on Monday by the State Security Court at the Federal Supreme Court. The court turned down the appeal filed by AMH, an Arab national, and upheld the lower court’s ruling. The defendant was found guilty of spying for a foreign country.

The court also rejected another appeal from another Arab accomplice in the same case and upheld a 10 years’ ruling against him for spying and communicating classified information to intelligence agents of a foreign country.

The two defendants were fined Dh100,000 each. The verdicts issued by the Federal Supreme Court are final and are not subject to appeal.

The State Security Court in the Federal Supreme Court, at the end of its session, also approved verdicts issued by the Abu Dhabi Court of Appeal against a group of convicts.

A citizen of a Gulf country had his 10-year prison term and Dh 100,000 fine upheld.

An Arab, T.S.M., had his 10 years’ imprisonment and Dh150,000 fine upheld. The defendant will also be deported from the country after serving the sentence.

The State Security Court also rejected the appeal filed by two Arabs who had their sentence of 10 year jail term, Dh100,000 to be followed by deportation upheld. They had been found guilty of spying for a foreign country. According to court records, they took advantage of their jobs, gathered information and passed it on to intelligence agents of a foreign country.

Another Arab, T.A.A.H., was cleared of all charges in the case.

The court has upheld a 15-year prison term and Dh1 million fine handed down to another man from an Arab country. The defendant will be deported from the country after serving his sentence.

In another case, the State Security Court of the Federal Supreme Court rejected the appeal filed by an Arab, who had his 10-year imprisonment, Dh1 million fine upheld. The defendant will be deported after serving his term.

Another Arab,T.A.A, had his 10 year jail term to be followed by deportation upheld.The court dismissed an appeal filed by A.F.R., who had his 5-year imprisonment and Dh1 million fine upheld. The defendant will be deported after serving his term.

The appeals filed by a group of Arabs identified as T.M.S., R.A.T., M.B.F., A.A.N., A.G.F., A.MA.. and M. A.H, were rejected and the sentence of the lower court of 5-year imprisonment and Dh500,000 fine each was upheld.

The defendants will be deported after serving their term. The court ordered the confiscation of all the communications devices used in the case and the closure of all social media sites and to erase images and information related to the crime committed by the defendants. They were found guilty of joining and funding Daesh terrorist group and promoting its terrorist ideology.
