Abu Dhabi: Prosecutors referred three teenagers to the Family Court after they admitted impersonating security officers and committing hate crimes.

The trio, who were all Arabs, attacked an Asian man, beat him up and stole his money and wallet, before escaping in a taxi.

The criminals, who were all under 18, were arrested and confessed to their crimes when they were questioned.

A representative from the Public Prosecutor's office called on residents to be wary of anyone asking them to stop, and to always make sure they check identity cards.

Warning

The representative also issued a stark warning that the authorities would deal with these crimes severely and to the full extent of the law.

"The crimes rarely occur, and are committed by few," the representative said.

"The law works hard to limit them and prevent them.

"We also call on people to know their rights so they too aid in preventing these crimes from occurring."
