Dubai: Three motorists were referred to the Public Prosecution for indecently gesturing at radars while deliberately speeding past to get photographed. According to Traffic Police officials, the suspects were photographed by radar cameras in three separate incidents.

“They were committing various indecent acts, which included showing the finger and exposing themselves,” a Traffic Police official told Gulf News. “This isn’t the first time we’ve seen such a case.“

According to the official, there have been cases of both men and women in the past who have indecently exposed themselves before radar cameras. “There have been cases of men showing the finger, men driving naked and women flashing their breasts,” he said. “The suspects are referred to the Public Prosecution for punishment.”

Colonel Saif Muhair Al Mazroui said there have been a total of three such incidents since the beginning of the year.

“These acts are a clear disrespect for the purpose of these machines,” he said, “We have over 500 radar cameras operating across the city including solar-powered and mobile. The radars are intended to monitor road behaviour and ensure motorists abide by the law. They are not meant to be used for such childish reasons.”
