Dubai: Prisoners set fire to Al Qusais Police Station's detention cell this week, sources told Gulf News.

Police sources said the incident happened on Tuesday night. The sources said that part of the ceiling of the detention cell collapsed due to the fire.

The sources also said that the prisoners were trying to escape by creating chaos in the police station's jail. The sources said the prisoners set fire to a mattress.

"No one was seriously injured in the fire," the source said.

According to police, prisoners have set fire to the same police station twice this year.

"The prisoners who caused the fire earlier were sentenced and are serving jail terms at the central jail," the police source said.

One prisoner claimed they were mistreated in the jail.

"We do not want to cause any causalities but we need better treatment."
