Cases involving burglary and possessing and trading in alcohol were heard at Fujairah Appeals Court.

The court upheld a two-year prison term against D.A., 25, an unemployed UAE national, who broke into a house.

It reduced a sentence handed down to one man.

J.M., 24, and M.A., 28, were found guilty of possessing and trading in alcohol. The alcohol was discovered in their car when they collided with a police car. Twenty boxes, each containing 12 bottles of alcohol were found.

The Omanis confessed to charges of possessing and trading in alcohol, running away from the police and speeding.

M.A. was sentenced to six months in jail and fined Dh5,000 on the three charges. J.M. was sentenced to six months in jail and fined Dh5,000 for possessing liquor but acquitted of the second and third charges.

On appeal his sentence was reduced to a Dh2,000 fine and no jail term.
