Police quiz nationals over man's death
Dubai: The Dubai Public Prosecution department has started investigating two suspects believed to be involved in an assault that led to the death of a 38-year-old Moroccan man.
Sources told Gulf News yesterday the two UAE national suspects, identified as J.A.A., a government employee, and A.H.G., are being questioned about the assault that resulted in the death of the victim, identified as A.F.
"It is up to the investigations to show whether there are any indications of a premeditated murder," added the source.
Police sources said earlier A.F. died following a fight between a group of UAE nationals and some Moroccans at a pub in Naif.
A source requiring anonymity said: "The public prosecution started investigations with the two suspects on January 18. After the investigations, they will be officially charged and forwarded to the Dubai courts. The police primarily charged one of the suspects with 'assault that led to A.F.'s unintentional death' while the other was charged with 'aiding and abetting a crime'."
Brigadier Khamis Mattar Al Mazeina, Director of the Dubai police Criminal Investigation Department, said earlier "unacceptable behaviour and strange looks" triggered the fight.
