Police launch manhunt for escaped detainee

Umm Al Quwain: Police threw a dragnet across the emirate on Thursday in the hunt for a detainee who escaped from police custody during a break between questioning, Gulf News has learnt.

The Asian man was arrested on Wednesday evening on charges of trafficking and possession of drugs, Umm Al Quwain police confirmed.

The detainee was put in a solitary room for interrogation but police said when he was given a moment alone, he fled.

The unidentified suspect took advantage of the fact that the room was empty and opened the window and jumped from the second floor.
