Sharjah: A man's body was found by a building in Sharjah on Wednesday morning, police said on Thursday.

The body of the Asian man was found in the early morning by a building in the Al Guwair area, police confirmed.

According to police the man was Indian but they did not give his name or age.

The damage to the man's body was severe.

"His bones all over his body were broken. His face was violently smashed and shattered," police said.

A passer-by spotted the body in the early hours. It was taken to Kuwait Hospital, then to the forensic laboratory for further investigation.

Foul smell

"We are investigating the case. The man could have committed suicide or it could be a homicide case," police said.

The case has been transferred to the public prosecution for further investigation.

In a separate incident, the decomposed body of a man was found on Tuesday morning in the area located behind Kuwait Hospital.

Police said that neighbours informed police that a foul smell was coming from a house in the area.

The man was then found dead in the house.

"It seems he had been dead for more than five days in his room," police said. The man has also been identified as Asian, but no name has been provided by police.

Forensic laboratory

His body has been transferred to the forensic laboratory for investigation.

"We are investigating the case to find out if this is a natural death or if there is a crime behind his death," police said.

The case has been transferred to the public prosecutor.
