Police arrest human traffickers

Dubai: A gang of women running a brothel and involved in bringing in sex workers from Eastern Europe to Dubai were arrested by Dubai Police following the plea of a victim who managed to escape from their clasp.

In May, K.J., a victim of the forced sex operation, sought the help of Dubai Police after informing the Naif Police Station.

The victim was referred to the Combating Human Trafficking section of the Criminal Investigation Department of Dubai Police (CID) to provide details on the gang members.

According to her statements, K.J., an East European, received an attractive job offer from a woman identified as F.S. to work at a leading restaurant in Dubai.

The suspect, who is also owner of the Dubai-based brothel, completed K.J.'s visa and other formalities and made arrangements for her to meet with another suspect, A.M. at the airport.

A.M. put the victim up in an apartment in Dubai for a day before taking her to another apartment where a group of women, who wanted to purchase K.J., were haggling over the price.

The victim was sold to two suspects identified as N.T. and K.S. who forced her into prostitution. The victim was physically abused by an Asian man for refusing to work as a sex worker.

According to a press statement by the Dubai Police, the victim stated that the only way to end the beatings was to agree to prostitution.

The victim was forced to sleep with numerous men and was also molested by the security guard of the building where the brothel was operating.

Dubai Police arrested the entire gang, including the two women who confessed to operating the brothel and working for F.S. who lured victims from their home countries.

According to a police source there is an arrest warrant on F.S. who is based in Eastern Europe.

Brigadier Khalil Ebrahim Al Mansouri, Director, Criminal Investigation Department of Dubai Police said, "Most victims come from difficult financial backgrounds and are enticed by fake job opportunities in Dubai.

"Due to their limited knowledge about the rules and regulations of employment in Dubai or any other global city they fall victims to these atrocious crimes."
