Police arrest 28 beggars

Dubai: Police have arrested 28 beggars since an anti-begging campaign was launched on July 17.

Brigadier Khalil Al Mansouri, head of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), confirmed four of the beggars were female.

He urged residents not to fall victim to beggars’ scams, as they are part of an organised criminal network that prey on the goodwill of people during Ramadan.

If residents want to help the needy, they should make donations to registered charitable associations.
