Umm Al Quwain: One person drowned and three others were rescued while swimming off the Umm Al Quwain beach on Friday morning.

Police said that they had been swimming at Al Bayt Al Mitwahid Corniche.

Three of them were rescued by people on the beach, while the fourth one was pulled deep into the sea by high waves.

Lieutenant Colonel Obeid Ali Bin Fathel of Umm Al Quwain Police said when the rescue team reached the site after the call, they found three of the swimmers were already rescued by people on the beach.

The rescue team comprising the Coast Guard and a helicopter from Abu Dhabi Rescue Department conducted the search operation to find the missing person. His body was finally found and fished out on the second day, far away from the spot where the incident occurred.

Lieutenant Colonel Bin Fathel urged beachgoers to be cautious and to avoid venturing into the sea during unstable weather.
