Man stabbed by doctor, loses eye

Ajman: A man has lost his right eye after he was allegedly stabbed with a pen by a doctor because he was allegedly arguing with security at the reception of GMC hospital, police said Wednesday.

Imran Hassan Yousuf Abdullah, a 22-year-old Emirati, was admitted to Khalifa hospital on Tuesday after the incident.

Brigadier Ali Abdullah Alwan, Chief of Ajman Police, said the Indian doctor and the security guard have been detained.

Surgery

He said the doctor admitted stabbing Abdullah. The hospital has not commented on the incident.

Abdullah was admitted to Khalifa hospital for surgery where his right eye was removed because it was completely damaged.

Witnesses said Abdullah was standing at the reception when the security guard asked him to change his queue.

"The guard argued with Abdullah. Suddenly, we saw the doctor come out of his room," a witness told Gulf News.

According to the witness there was an altercation in which Abdullah got stabbed in the eye with a pen.
