A man who posed as an undercover policeman and raped a woman under the influence of alcohol has landed in prison.
The 33-year-old UAE national, identified as S. K., will have to spend five years and two months in jail for drinking alcohol, impersonating a police officer and raping a woman.
The Dubai police were alerted about an attack in a flat by a neighbour.
A patrol reached the spot and found out that a 30-year-old Moroccan woman had been attacked and raped inside her flat.
According to the police, the victim opened the door to her flat after hearing a knock.
The attacker initially said he is an undercover police officer, but later barged into the house and closed the door.
The man then pushed the victim into the bedroom and raped her repeatedly. An Arab neighbour heard the cries of the victim and called the police.
The rapist, meanwhile, managed to get out of the flat and run away.
Some of the neighbours chased him down the stairs and caught him near the building's entrance. They held him till police arrived.
The Dubai Public Prosecution charged him with consuming liquor, impersonating a police officer, attacking and raping the victim. The Moroccon woman was later taken to a hospital for medical examination.
