Man hangs himself at work place in Umm Al Quwain

The newly married 28-year-old worked in a rubber factory and was described as friendly and polite

Umm Al Quwain: An Indian man hanged himself at his work place in Umm Quwain, a police official revealed yesterday.

The 28-year-old was found hanging by a wire from the ceiling of a work place in Umm Al Quwain yesterday morning, a police official said.

The deceased was an employee at a rubber factory on Shaikh Zayed Road in the emirate and was already dead by the time officers reached the area after receiving a call at 10.50am about the incident, the official added. A source at Umm Al Quwain Rubber industry told Gulf News that the man, identified as Shinu Puroshttum, from Kerala, was newly married.

According to the source, the deceased was a polite and friendly person and his colleagues in the factory were sad to hear about his demise.

"We all wonder why he committed suicide and were shocked to find him hanging," source said.

The police official said that the operation room at Umm Al Quwain police received a call informing about the incident after which a police patrol ambulance and personnel from the forensic laboratory rushed to the scene of the incident.

The body has been sent to hospital for an autopsy and the police are investigating the case to find out the reasons behind the death.
