Man files false kidnap complaint to help a friend

Dubai : An Arab is facing charges of impersonating a police officer and fabricating a kidnapping complaint against Asian workers to make them pay money owed to his friend, a official said.

Brig Khalil Ebrahim Al Mansouri, Director, Criminal Investigation Department, Dubai Police, said that the man, identified as K., called a radio station in Ajman, accusing Naif Police of ignoring his complaint in which he reported an assault and kidnapping attempt implicating the Asian men. Al Mansouri said K. went with his friend to the house of the men and posed as a policeman to help get his [friend's] money back.

He said the kidnapping charge was the Arab's way of getting back at the Asians.
