Sharjah: The Sharjah Police have arrested a man who claimed he could double any amount of money using black magic, police said on Saturday.

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of Sharjah Police arrested the African national following a tip-off about illegal activities carried out by the suspect.

Major Abdullah Al Malih, head of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of Sharjah Police, said the suspect used to make his victims believe he has the ability to double money. Following his arrest, fake money was seized from his possession.

Brigadier Ahmad Mohammad Bin Darwish, director of the central region for police, said that a team was formed to investigate the case and lay a trap for the suspect. Police caught him red-handed with fake money in his possession.

Fake notes

The fake currency notes were packed in a bag, which he moving from his car to another vehicle, at the time of the arrest.

Some tools used in the alleged fraud were also recovered.

The suspect and one of his victims were taken to Al Dhaid Police station, where the former confessed to duping a number of victims who believed his claims and handed over huge sums of money.

Investigations revealed that a number of his victims did not inform the police about the scam even after they lost money.

The suspect was transferred to Public Prosecution for further action.

The Sharjah Police have warned the public not to believe such fraudsters making such claims, or similar ones like being able to cure diseases using magic.
