Dubai: Three men have been accused of having paid sex with a prostitute and being responsible for her death after she fell while jumping from one balcony to another of a third-floor hotel room where she was locked up.

The prostitute was said to have met the three Uzbek men in a nightclub and agreed to have sex with them for Dh1,000 in a hotel room in Al Qusais in November.

Once the three finished having sex with the woman, they were believed to have indulged in a heated argument with her that, according to records, developed into a physical altercation after she demanded a higher price for her services.

The Uzbek trio, a businessman and two unemployed men, beat the woman, took her money and left her locked up in the room, said records.

Dubai Police’s operation room were alerted about a woman’s death after she fell from the hotel room while attempting to jump from one balcony to another.

Police interrogations revealed that the room had been rented by a 31-year-old Uzbek man, who was found to be present at the lobby once police arrived.

When questioned by the police, the 31-year-old man said that he and his two countrymen had brought the woman to the hotel to have sex with her.

Police apprehended the two other suspects after the 31-year-old suspect called them to come to the hotel.

Prosecutors accused the three suspects of having paid sex, stealing the prostitute’s Dh2,300 and being liable for her fatal fall after they had locked her up in the room.

The prosecutors said the trio confined the woman against her will in the room and were accountable for her death as she fell to her death while trying to escape from the room.

The three suspects pleaded not guilty and refuted the accusation of being liable for the woman’s death when they appeared before the Dubai Court of First Instance on Sunday.

The trio admitted that they had paid sex with the woman but dismissed any liability towards her death when they defended themselves before presiding judge Shaikha Hamad.

They also refuted the robbery charge.

A police lieutenant told prosecutors that according to hotel records the 31-year-old suspect had rented the room.

“We asked him to call his countrymen suspects to the hotel … and we arrested them. On-site investigations revealed that the prostitute fell to her death while trying to jump from one balcony to the another. She was found fully dressed and her clothes weren’t torn or ripped off. According to the forensic examiner, she had some knife cuts on her hands which may have been result of her fight with the trio in the room,” he told prosecutors.

Presiding judge Shaikha Hamad adjourned the case till April 17 when the suspects’ lawyer will hear statements of the prosecution witnesses.
