A jobless man has been jailed for possessing and delivering liquor bottles on his motorcycle.

The Dubai Court of First Instance sentenced the 26-year-old Indian liquor vendor identified as S.J. to two months in jail. He will be deported after serving his jail term.

An informant alerted the police that the accused was illegally vending liquor to customer. The informant told the police that his customers were aware that the accused used to sell different kinds of liquor.

So they would call him on his mobile phone and place their order, after which he would drive to their houses and deliver the drinks.

A special team was assigned to nail the accused and arrest him red-handed while vending liquor. The team monitored the accused for a few days before arresting him on a street.

The police later searched his house and found more than 450 liquor bottles of different kinds. In his statement to the police, the Indian national said he has been staying in the country illegally for several months.

Then he started selling liquor on his motorcycle as he was jobless. He said he used to sell liquor to select clients and hide the liquor bottles at the back of his motorcycle.
