Dubai: A father is desperately searching for his son who went missing in Dubai almost two months ago, a day after arriving in the UAE to start a new job, according to Dubai Police.

Police told Gulf News that the 26-year-old Indian man, identified as Alwin Antony D’silva, went missing in mid-September.

A police search of the missing man’s room revealed his passport and all his belongings were still in his room near Al Rifaa police station.

D’silva’s father told Gulf News that he worked for a company in Dubai for many years before retiring three years ago.

“I’m old now and after my retirement I brought my son to work in the same company,” he said.

He said that his son arrived in Dubai on September 16 and went missing on September 17.

“My son came earlier to Dubai for the visa process and he finished all the formalities related to issuing his work visa and then he went to India for a vacation,” he said.

“There has been no update from the police yet. I hope my son is safe and sound,” he said.

He said that when his son came back to Dubai he just vanished.

“All my son’s belongings, including his passport, were found in his room by police.”

He said the same day his son went missing his mobile phone was switched off.

“I’m here on a visit visa to search for my son,” he said.

He said he has another married daughter who is in India.

His son left his room at night according to his roommates.

“The roommate said that his son told him that he would not be late but then he disappeared,” he said.

“My son just started work as an executive for a shipping company in Bur Dubai,” he said.

D’silva is from Mumbai.

“My son’s employer has registered a missing case with Dubai Police who are still investigating the matter,” his father said.

He appealed to the police and the public to help him find his son. He said his wife was in a state of shock and was finding it difficult to cope with the situation.

“We love our son very much and we miss him dearly. All our family and friends want him back home,” he said.

He called on people who may have seen his son or know of his whereabouts to call Dubai Police on 999 or his employer on 050-6596253.

He said that he and the company are in contact with the police every day.
