Say men offered to drive them home after they agreed to walk with them into nightspot
Dubai: Two men have been accused of kidnapping and raping two saleswomen who agreed to walk with them into a nightclub as single men were refused entry. One of the women told the Dubai Court of First Instance one of the men threatened to throw her to his dog if she refused to have sex with him.
The Emirati men, 25-year-old D.S. and 24-year-old S.S., were said to have run into the women, a Moldovan and a Ukrainian, at the entrance to the hotel nightclub on Shaikh Zayed Road in September 2013.
Prosecution records said the duo talked the women into driving them home before kidnapping them, driving to a remote area and raping them.
D.S. was accused of raping the Ukrainian after threatening to drug her and behead her. S.S. was accused of raping the Moldovan after beating her and threatening to throw her to his dog.
The duo was also charged with stealing the Ukrainian woman’s handbag. They pleaded not guilty before the court on Tuesday.
“We did not kidnap the women. I had consensual sex with the Ukrainian. I did not threaten her,” said D.S. before presiding judge Ala’a Al Deen Fouad.
When asked by presiding judge Fouad whether he had consensual sex with the Moldovan, S.S. replied: “Not at all.”
Meanwhile D.S. told the court he stole the bag.
The 28-year-old testified to prosecutors that she and her friend ran into the defendants when they went clubbing.
“When they asked us to join them to be able to enter, we agreed. We sat alone drinking … later they joined us and we also danced together. When we left the nightclub at around 3am, the suspects offered to drive us home. We accompanied them and we agreed to have dinner then ice cream in Jumeirah. S.S. said he had to pass by his house to feed his dog … when we were in his villa, I refused to have sex with him although he insisted … he threatened to throw me to the dog. We asked them to take us home because it was late. On the way back, the defendants drove to a remote area … S.S. took me out of the car and pushed me behind some trees where he beat and threatened me before he raped me,” the Moldovan told prosecutors.
Records said the Moldovan jumped out of the moving car and ran away from S.S. although he tried to chase her.
Meanwhile the Ukrainian woman claimed to prosecutors that D.S. forced her to have sex with him in the car. She also alleged that when they dropped her off, they snatched her bag.
A police lieutenant testified that D.S. admitted during questioning that he had sex with the Ukrainian against her will and stole her bag that contained a mobile phone and Dh200.
The trial continues.
