Dubai: Dubai Customs inspectors at Dubai Cargo Village have foiled four separate attempts to smuggle 16.2 kilograms of heroin during the current year.
Ahmad Mahboob Musabah, Executive Director of Customs Relations Management at Dubai Customs, said, four separate heroin smuggling bids have been aborted during this year, all shipments were coming from an Asian country and on their way to Western and Asian countries via Dubai.
“The smugglers resorted to use many tricks to mislead customs officials and inspectors as the seized drugs were hidden within shipments of mirrors, pencils, books, accessories and women’s handbags, said Musabah.
"Dubai Customs` effort to combat smuggling of drugs and all prohibited substances will continue proceeding from its strategic vision to support legitimate international trade and to protect the society members locally and externally from the dangers of harmful prohibited substances to health and economy," he added.
He also valued the high sense of security of Customs inspectors and their keenness to enhance the image of Dubai and the UAE worldwide.
