Dubai: A construction worker was killed Monday after a wall collapsed on his head at a Dubai site, according to a senior police official.
Lieutenant Colonel Ahmad Humaid Al Merri, Director of the Criminal Investigation Department at Dubai Police, told Gulf News Monday that the Indian worker died on the spot when the wall at the construction site collapsed on his head.
He said: “The worker was excavating the ground under the wall when it fell down on him.
“The accident happened at around 12pm at Al Manara area.”
Lt. Col. Al Merri said the safety engineer at the site and the building contractor have been arrested in connection with the accident.
“There are safety regulation set by the Municipality which must be followed by any contractors at construction sites.
“The case is still under investigation and this is an initial report of the accidents,” Al Merri said.
He said the case will be transferred to the public prosecutor after police finalise investigations.
