Carpenter jailed for six months for molesting 7-year-old girl in Dubai
Girl was playing in the corridor of her building when assaulted
Dubai: A carpenter has been jailed for six months for molesting a 7-year-old schoolgirl while she was playing with the neighbours' children near her family's apartment.
The Dubai Court of First Instance found the 26-year-old Pakistani carpenter F.S. guilty of molesting the Indian girl, K.M.
Presiding Judge Al Saeed Mohammad Barghout, who pronounced the judgment, said the accused will be deported after the completion of his sentence.
"I am not guilty ... I didn't molest her," said the accused while defending himself in court. According to records, the carpenter initially admitted that he had molested the girl.
Prosecutors accused F.S. of molesting K.M. while she was playing in the corridor of the building where she lives.
Strange man
In his statement before prosecutors, the girl's 39-year-old father said; "My daughter came into the house and claimed that a strange man touched her private parts ... she told me that she was playing with the children when somebody called her.
"He asked her about the shoe racks before he walked close to her and groped her chest. While she was telling me what happened, F.S. left the opposite flat and she pointed at him as being the man who touched her inappropriately.
"I rushed towards him and asked him if he touched my girl, but he denied [it]. My daughter immediately denied his claims and confirmed that he was the one who touched her.
"He denied a second time, although the neighbour's child confirmed that it was the same man who touched the seven-year-old," claimed the father.
Records said the defendant ran away soon after the two children identified him.
