A brother and sister from Dibba were killed in a car accident on the Al Dhaid-Al Ain Road.

Ali Khalid Khowaidem, 19, and his sister, Fatima, 21, died when the car they were travelling in hit another car.

Their brother, Ahmad, and his friend, the driver, Mouadh Saeed Obaid, 20, suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Ali, a national government employee, had completed a military training course in Al Manamah and had asked his friend, Mouadh, to pick up his brother Ahmad and his sister Fatima from Al Ain. Fatima had just completed her exams at UAE university.

Mouadh drove to Al Ain, and took Ali, Fatima and Ahmad with him, and headed off to Dibba. They took the new road between Al Ain, Al Madam and Al Dhaid.

The front tyre of their car blew out near Al Melaihah and Mouadh lost control. The car ended up on the other side of the road and collided with a car that was heading to Al Ain.

The other car was also carrying a family from Dibba - Ahmad Salem Khamis, his sister, Jameela, and their other sibling, Khamis.

Ahmad was taking his sister to Al Ain, where she is appearing in her first semester examinations. The three sustained minor injuries.

The bodies of Fatima and Ali were buried on the same day at about 9pm in Dibba.

Salem, a relative of the siblings, told Gulf News it was unfortunate to have a brother and sister killed in a car accident in which another brother and sister from Dibba as well were also involved.
