Sharjah: Sharjah Police have launched an investigation to find the parents of a baby boy who was found abandoned on a roadside in the Al Khazamyah area on May 6 around 10pm.

The infant was discovered in a baby stroller left next to a garbage bin by a municipal worker who was emptying the nearby trash container. The worker immediately alerted the police.

A police patrol car and ambulance rushed to the scene and took the infant to Al Qasimi Hospital, the official added. Medical staff estimated the child to be around eight months old at the time he was brought in.

Sharjah Police have since launched an intensive investigation to find the child’s parents.

The hospital will provide the infant with all necessary treatment and a complete medical check-up before handing him over to the Child Protection Committee,” the police official added.
