Ras Al Khaimah: Ras Al Khaimah Police have added advanced armoured vehicles for special tasks to their fleet. The Canada-based Streit Armoured Vehicles delivered a number of such vehicles to the police force last week.
Lieutenant Colonel Yousuf Bin Yaqoub, Chief of Special Tasks Section of Ras Al Khaimah Police, said the induction of armoured vehicles was within the framework of cooperation and integration between the security agencies of the Ministry of Interior to provide the best protection to the lives and property of members of society.
Each armoured vehicle, Lt. Col. Bin Yaqoub said, cost up to Dh1 million, and is equipped with water pumps and the latest technology.
Also a part of the new fleet is an armoured personnel carrier vehicle, called Spartan, to help maintain security in rugged (off-road) locations and is equipped with internal and external surveillance cameras.
Major General Ali Abdullah Bin Alwan Al Nuaimi, Commander-in-Chief of Ras Al Khaimah Police, emphasised that the emirate’s police force is committed to upgrading its fleet of security and policing vehicles regularly to provide outstanding services that work to promote security and peace.
Maj. Gen. Al Nuaimi, during his meeting with Streit Group’s chief executive Guerman Goutorov, stressed on the directives of the Ministry of Interior to enhance the capabilities of policing and security authorities nationwide.
