Sharjah: Police have arrested 11 people — beggars and street vendors — from different parts of Sharjah as part of a campaign launched in the emirate, a top official at Sharjah Police said.

All the suspects were Asians.

Police said those caught had either entered the country illegally or escaped from their sponsor.

Police called on the public to cooperate with the police’s campaign by not dealing with such lawbreakers and also by reporting violators and their illegal acts by calling 999 or 06 5623322 or the toll-free number Najeed 800 151 or emailing najeed@shjpolice.gov.ae.
