Cricket Australia to train coaches in the UAE
The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) will assist UAE in uplifting the standard of coaching in the UAE. In conjunction with Cricket Australia, ACC will conduct a Level One coaching course for coaches in Sharjah from December 15.
"This course is a part of the ACC development programme and we are happy that UAE has been selected as the venue for this one-week course," remarked Mazhar Khan, Administrator, Emirates Cricket Board.
"We intend to get all our coaches familiarised with all the modern techniques of coaching. The guidance from Cricket Australia, which has earned a reputation for its professional training of players and coaches, will be of immense value to the coaches," added Khan. A minimum of six coaches will be selected from the UAE for the course to be conducted by former Test star and fast bowler Damien Fleming.
"Two coaches from every GCC country will also be invited to attend the course and a total of 16 coaches will avail of the training during the course," he revealed.
Meanwhile, two UAE cricketers have been selected to attend another level one course in Singapore. Naseer Siddique, a prolific scorer in domestic cricketer from Abu Dhabi, and Abdullah Hanif will leave for Singapore on November 15. Hanif has been involved with the spreading of the game in Morocco and Siddique is keen to guide budding cricketers.
"Soon after the completion of the level one course here, Dr Vece Paes, the sports medicine and fitness consultant of the Asian Cricket Council will conduct a physical fitness programme in the UAE," informed Khan.
