Dubai: The Consul General of Turkey, Elif Ulgen, visited the Dubai Autism Center (DAC) to look closely at the services and educational programs provided by the centre for children with autism, as well as to expand the horizons of cooperation between the consulate and the DAC for the benefit of the UAE society.
Sara Baker, Head of Community Service Unit at the Center, briefed the guest with a short presentation on autism spectrum disorders and explained the centre's services. They later toured the classrooms and units and interacted with the children.
During the visit, the Consul General showed much keenness to learn more about autism. She expressed her admiration and appreciation for the efforts of the centre and its employees, confirming support of the Consulate and the Turkish community for humanitarian issues in the UAE society. She also showed the Consulate's keenness to cooperate with the centre in the long term to improve the services provided to children with autism.
Mohammad Al Emadi, Board Member and Director General of the Dubai Autism Center, said: "I would like to thank the Turkish Consul General Ms. Elif Ulgen for her concern and care in supporting the autism cause in the UAE society… I also would like to extend my sincere thanks and appreciation to the Consulate and the Turkish community in the UAE for their active role in our society by sponsoring and organizing charitable activities made for the benefit of the children with autism."
At the end of the visit, Al Emadi presented the "10th Anniversary DAC Book" to the Consul General, expressing his hope for further expansion of cooperation.
