The 20th GCC Traffic Week, which begins on March 20, aims to instil road sense in people. The awareness campaign, backed by the Traffic Department at Abu Dhabi Police, is among a series of events and activities planned for the community.

Major Jamal Salem Al Ameri, Safety and Public Relations Director at the Department, said various departments at Abu Dhabi and Al Ain Traffic Departments would organise awareness activities, including exhibitions and road safety demonstrations at various shopping malls with a number of seminars and the handing out of leaflets.

Al Ameri said the Traffic Public Relations and Safety Sections will visit private and public schools to talk about road sense during the week-long campaign entitled Traffic Safety is a Collective Responsibility.

There will also be a research to find ways of making the country's roads safer and the setting up of a "Traffic Village", with a roadshow. All government departments, public and private establishments and educational zones in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and the western region will be involved in the campaign.

Participants will also have the opportunity to win a cash prize by answering 12 questions on road safety by calling 90001881.

Shoppers at Marina Mall, Abu Dhabi Mall and Medinat Zayed Shopping Centre can also buy scratch cards for cash prizes. The coupons will carry traffic safety slogans.
