Opposition leaders yesterday called for intensifying the anti-government movement in the spirit of the 'Sepoy-People Revolution' of November 7, 1975, and to form a four-party government toppling the Awami League regime by ballot.
They said that the revolution had taken place against the autocracy to protect independence and sovereignty.
"The four-party leaders face a situation now similar to that prevailing in the country before 1975 that brought about the Nov. 7 revolution," it was observed at a rally.
The opposition leaders addressed a rally organised at Muktangan by the All Party Action Council of the alliance to mark Nov. 7 as National Revolution and Solidarity Day.
After the rally, the alliance led a mass procession. While crossing Kakarailk point, two bombs exploded. Police fired several teargas shells to disperse those bringing up the rear, while the main body marched on.
Addressing the huge rally before the march BNP leader announced rally on Nov. 23.
