Sharjah: The fourth edition of the Used Book Fair organised by the Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services raised Dh500,000 for charity, officials said yesterday.

At the five-day long fair, held at Khalid Lagoon in March, 500,000 used books were sold.

The Minister of Education, Humaid Mohammad Obaid Al Qutami, yesterday honoured 161 participants. The minister lauded the role of the Used Book Fair, in promoting reading. "The values and ideals embodied in the book fair are praiseworthy. It not only supports dissemination of knowledge and the love for books but also promotes the values of volunteerism and humanitarian services," he said.
