Twelve-year-old Rowan Baker (DCGYC) set a course record in last week's Aviation Club Junior Par three Series tournament. Baker scored a record gross 58 to win by seven strokes from Khalid Yousuf (EGC) and now leads the 12's and under Order of Merit by an uncatchable 45 points.
The Aviation Club Par three Course has undergone some major renovation over the recent weeks which has included moving a number of tees and bunkers, moving some trees and extending some greens. As a result of this Aviation Club Recreation Manager Alan Lowe decided to renew the courses 18-hole record. Bakers card will be framed and displayed along with his photo until it is bettered. Third place went to the rapidly improving Joel Neale (DCGYC).
Leo Connolly (DCGYC) continued to get the better of Ali Yousuf (UGA) in the eight's and under category but this month's victory proved to be the narrowest so far with Connolly scoring 47 and Yousuf 48 (over nine holes). This result will give Yousuf a lift for the final two fixtures.
The largest field of the day assembled for the 16's and under with many inspired by thought of bettering Bakers new 18-hole course record. Okshan Sarkari (DCGYC) and Kunwar Khehar (EGC) equalled it with 58's (Bakers record still stands as it was the first one) with Sarkari taking the title on a better second nine. Third place went to Chris Davis (DCGYC). Ben Connolly was unable to attend due to a commitment at his home Club Dubai Creek, but still leads the Order of Merit by 10 points from Kristine Viray (DCGYC).
The next qualifying fixture is on April 20th and the Masters final is on May 25th. For further information and entries contact the Aviation Club Sports Desk on 04 2824122.
