Bahrain music fest early next month
Music from around the world will be heard at the 11th Bahrain Music Festival, to be held between October 5 and 10. Six musical programmes have been lined up by the Ministry of Information as part of the festival which will be held at the Bahrain National Museum.
The Director of the festival, Essam Al Jowder told Gulf News: "Despite being small in size geographically, Bahrain is rich in culture." Folk arts are still performed in Bahrain and traditions of the past are admired and honoured.
The six-day music festival includes a performance by the renowned Lebanese vocalist Jahida Wahba, on October 5. She will be accompanied by the 'Bahraini Orchestra'. Jahida holds a bachelors degree in Psychology and Oriental Singing.
She has performed on a number of poetry pieces both in Lebanon and abroad in cooperation with various cultural organisations.
On the other hand the European Union Chamber Orchestra will perform on October 6 and 7. "The Union was formed in 1981 and it performs at international festivals."
Al Jowder said that the artists will perform compositions by Bartok, Mozart and Vivaldi among other composers.
