Awareness campaign for pilgrims

Abu Dhabi: The Directorate of Traffic and Patrols at the Abu Dhabi Police is set to launch an awareness campaign targeting those who are going for Haj by land.

The initiative, which is part of “Your Safety” campaign, aims to ensure the safety of pilgrims as they travel to and back from Saudi Arabia.

Check points will be set up on the Abu Dhabi-Ghuwaifat Road and the exit points in Al Ain where pilgrims will be provided with pamphlets on traffic safety as well as gift bags with a first aid kit.

Officials from the Directorate stressed the importance of being in vehicles that are both comfortable and safe enough for long-distance travel.

Drivers must also abide by safety rules such as sticking to the speed limit and making sure luggage does not exceed 60cm over the roof of vehicles.
