Al Ain: Stunning images of lifestyle and nature in Al Ain have been pouring in from professionals and amateurs alike as the deadline for the Al Ain Photographia Award approaches.

Around 2,000 participants from across the world have submitted nearly 5,000 images so far, an Al Ain Municipality official said. The competition closes on Sunday.

The winners will be announced at a ceremony on November 25 at Al Ain Municipality Theatre. An exhibition of the winning images will also be launched, the official said.

The Awards were launched in September inviting professional and amateur shutterbugs to explore the beauty of the city.

Website

Mehra Saeed Al Muhairi, Director of Communications and Public Relations at Al Ain Municipality, yesterday encouraged people to visit the competition's website.

"We always appreciate talent and creativity and photography is one the best ways to demonstrate it," said Al Muhairi.

She said Al Ain has a blend of modern and ancient features setting a unique and ideal environment for photography.

The pictures so far received by the organisers highlight the charming and distinct views of life, culture and landscapes, and also the photographic creativity of the entrants.

‘Amazed'

"We are amazed to see public participation and the photographic creativity in the competition," she added.

The competition, she said, is being held under the patronage of Shaikha Dr Shamma Bint Mohammad Bin Khalid Al Nahyan. The Shaikh Mohammad Bin Khalid Al Nahyan Religious and Cultural Centre in Al Ain has been supporting the event.
